I mentioned before that I participate in a monthly technique swap with a bunch
of other demos. This card was made using a technique called Expressionistic
Watercolors. Equipment needed is cardstock, rubber stamp, markers and a spray
bottle filled with water. Making these cards was great fun! The stamp sets
used in this card are the ever-popular and beautiful "Lovely As A Tree" and
"Teeny Tiny Wishes."

I guess I'm still going through my pink phase! Here's another pink card, made for
my hairdresser. Her big 5-0 is this Friday. Happy Birthday, Karlynn!
This card was made with the Movers and Shapers die and my Big Shot. The card stock
is the beautiful and soon-to-return Pink Pirouette, the stamp set is Oval All, which
I punched with the Scallop Oval Punch. The die is really neat because it punches
the same design, but a little larger than the punch, which makes layering really
easy.

Today is the birthday of my friend, Laura. She is also my son-in-law's mother! Laura
loves pink, so I used the basic design of my card from February 10, and changed
the colors. This card uses Pretty in Pink and also Pink Pirouette, a color that's
coming back in the new catalog. It also uses that beautiful new satin ribbon! The stamp
set is Vintage Vogue.
Happy Birthday, Laura!

There are daily challenges on Splitcoast Stampers. I rarely have time to play along,
but today I was able to complete three challenges with one card! The challenges were to mix patterns,
make a quilt, and make a square card. This one is for my great-nephew, Brandon.

I got the idea for this card from
Gretchen Barron's blog. Gretchen shares the most beautiful designs! I
changed the colors, the paper and the sentiment. As a matter of fact, this design
is so versatile that I've made it in several colors and with different messages.
March 31, 2010When I need a masculine card, I seem to gravitate to Nature Silhouettes. You can see another card
using this set here. It's a beautiful
set and lends itself to such neat techniques. For this one, I stamped the tree and ground with black
craft ink on Whisper White cardstock, sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heated with the heat gun. Then I used my
Stamp-a-ma-Jig to place the deer precisely where I wanted him and followed the same steps again. I
punched a 1-1/4" circle from a sticky note, and placed it behind the deer. This technique is
called masking. I used my brayer to color the background with Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue and Night
of Navy inks. Once the brayering is done, you remove the sticky note circle to reveal a big, white
moon. You can't see it very well, but I used the diamond design Texturz plate on the large
piece of Night of Navy cardstock to give it some texture. The sentiment is from Well Scripted, stamped
with Night of Navy ink on Whisper White cardstock, punched with the large oval punch, and then sponged
in the center with Bashful Blue ink and around the edges with Night of Navy ink. The deer image is layered on
Basic Black and Whisper White mats, and popped up on Dimensionals.

I participate in a monthly technique swap for demos. We learn a new technique each month.
Sometimes I don't really love the technique, sometimes I struggle to make it work, but this
month I absolutely loved the process and the results! This technique is called Jenny's Coat.
You stamp a solid image with VersaMark ink on Designer Series (patterned) paper,
sprinkle on clear embossing powder, then heat set. When the image has cooled, you brayer
over the entire piece with black ink. Then you use a tissue to wipe the excess ink off
of the image. The embossing resists the ink, with this amazing result!

One of my favorite websites to visit is Splitcoast Stampers. Each week they showcase
a special technique or project. This week they offered a cute design for an unusual little Easter
basket. I couldn't resist trying it!

This card was made with the stamp set Great Friend, using Rich Razzleberry cardstock and
ribbon and ink, as well as Pale Plum ink. It also uses a Vanilla Ribbon Slide from
our Hodgepodge Hardware kit. The sentiment is from the FREE Sale-A-Bration stamp set, Whimsical
Words, and the Designer Series paper is from Cottage Wall.

This is a super-easy card! I ran a piece of vellum cardstock through my Big Shot
with the Manhattan Flowers embossing folder, adhered it down the left side of a Pretty
in Pink card with Snail, stamped the sentiment (from the Well-Scripted stamp set), and
tied some of our luscious satin ribbon (in the Occasions mini) down the side. Voila!

This card is my submission for a technique swap I participate in. This month we were to use
our Stampin' Up! pastels and a Blender Pen to color an image. I went right to one of my all-time
favorite sets, Bloomin' Beautiful. I'm getting better with those scallop trim punches, don't
you think?
