Inky Fun!

Welcome to Barbara Joyce's Blog

April 11, 2014

I had to wait to post this card until the recipients received it. I CASEd it from Sherrie Siemens' blog. I love the way she made a little scene with sky and grass and flowers, and I tried to duplicate it. I stamped the girl and bench, and then made a mask to put over the stamped image and then airbrushed the sky and grass with Copic markers. Then I colored the girl and bench and added the flowers. Last, I stamped the sentiment at the top.

Wish You Were Here

I am just tickled with this card, and it's gotten lots of views and "favorites" on Splitcoast. So many things to say: I combined two stamps, neither of which I'd used before, and was able to superimpose them with the help of my Stamp-A-Ma Jig. I was afraid the sentiment would be too big for the frame, but by moving the SAMJ around, I was able to place the bird in the text indentation, and now it looks as though they were made for each other!

I used my Scallop Tag Topper Punch to create this "latch card," and made my own patterned paper with the flower and leaf stamps from "Bloomin' Marvelous." By doing some careful measuring, I was able to stamp just the portion of the inside that would show when the card is tied closed, leaving white space to write a short message.

This is a Diagonal Double Pocket Card, the tutorial for which is on Splitcoast Stampers. The paper doll is Trudy, a digi from Mo Manning. I colored the doll and one outfit with Copic Markers. The remainder of Trudy's wardrobe will be for the recipient to color.

This card is for my brother-in-law's birthday. The bird stamp is from the set, "Serene Silhouettes," and I used the SU Circle Thinlits die for the card base. The design and colors were inspired by their wallpaper. I wonder if they'll make the connection!

This card uses some of my favorite colors, and color combination: Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, and Old Olive. I used Neenah Solar White, because it's a little heavier than most white cardstocks. The SU Framed Tulips embossing folder gives a nice frame to the central motif.

Happy Valentine's Day! I made this card for my sweetie. Each year I try to outdo the previous year's creation. I really liked the 2013 card, but I do think I accomplished my goal with this "Pop Up Box Card." Believe it or not, it folds completely flat to go into an envelope. It's quite large, but I made a cute envelope for it with my Envelope Punch Board.

I have a new stamp set (shocking, I know!). It's called Petite Petals, and comes with a matching punch. There are six different flowers, but I like this one best. I stamped the flower in Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango, and again in Old Olive, which I cut apart for the leaves. I molded them slightly to give them some dimension, and put a small pearl in the center of each flower. The saying is from an old set that I love, "Favorite Sayings." The center shape was cut with Nestabilities and popped up on Dimensionals.

This card fits in a small business-size envelope. I wanted the image to stand out, so added no embellishments. Colored with my Copic markers and sent to a young friend who needed a little lift. Another adorable image from Mo Manning.

Hang in there, girl!

This card is for today's challenge at Splitoast Stampers, to make a card with only stamps, ink and paper; no embellishments, ribbon, pearls, etc. I found it easy to make, and it will go into my upcoming shipment of cards to Operation Write Home.

Love and Care

Each Sunday, Splitcoast features a member whose gallery is inspiring to the rest of us. I played along today, and found a pretty card to use as my inspiration. I was looking for an attractive way to use a small image on a card, and this was the result. I'm making a bunch of cards for Operation Write Home, and this will be a good one to include in my shipment.

Missing You

January 15, 2014

I'm back to making some cards for Operation Write Home. We have to send cards very early, so they have time to get to the troops abroad, and then they have time to write on them and send them back to their loved ones at home. This is an Easter card I've made (three of them, actually) for my next shipment.

This card, with its adorable little girl, is for our daughter's birthday. Although she is an adult, she is always cute in my mind. I especially like that she is wearing a Penny Blossom in her hair!

This card was for a challenge on Splitcoast, "Let It Snow"! I just received this adorable snowman stamp and had to ink it right up for this challenge. Colored it with Copic markers and cut out the circle with Nestabilities. I love his sweet expression!

Welcome to another New Year! This card has been sitting on my desk, half done, for months, while I figured out exactly what colors the flowers should be. Got it! Left to right, Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Bermuda Bay. I unabashedly copied the design from a Stampin' Up! video, because I though it was so pretty.
